Here’s a guide to making a box out of four origami pieces.
The great thing about this box is that you can adjust its size however you like.
Making the pieces is easy, but I used to struggle with putting them together.
Once I figured it out, though, I was able to do it without any trouble.

Folding Instructions
Here, we are using four 7.5 cm × 7.5 cm sheets of origami paper.
First, make the box, and then make the lid using the same method.
Make parts
Let’s get started.
Fold the origami paper in half,
but don’t actually fold it—just mark the fold line.
Next, use that mark as a guide to fold the paper.
Fold the left corner down sharply.
Fold the long rectangle on the right so that it lies against the triangle.
Fold the triangle back once, then tuck it into the crease on the right.
Fold along the dotted line.
The part is complete.
Make four of these parts.
Assemble the parts
Next, I’ll start assembling it, so I’ve laid out the four pieces.
They look just like four fish.
So I decided to add some eyes.
Like this, I’ll assemble them so it looks as if the fish are eating each other’s tails one after another.
In practice, you combine these four parts like this.
Next, lower the triangle counterclockwise.
Finally, slide it into the gap.
And that’s it!
And the fish all came together in harmony.

Make the lid for the box
Next, let’s make the lid.
Earlier, we folded the paper so that the edges met in the middle,
but this time, we’ll fold it about 2–3 millimeters short of the center to create the piece.
This will result in a slightly larger lid.
Then, make four of these and assemble them.
Change the box size
As you can see, by changing the initial width, you can freely adjust the height.
This is all it takes to easily change the size.
