Introduction: This is a charming gift box that can be folded from just one sheet of origami paper. When viewed from above, the folds bloom beautifully like a flower.
We begin by creating the creases, then carefully assembling the shape. There’s a wonderful sense of satisfaction when the pieces click perfectly into place! On the other hand, if it doesn’t go quite right, it’s the perfect time to take a little tea break.
I’ve included detailed steps, especially for the assembly part. I truly hope these instructions guide you smoothly to the finished piece.

How to Fold a Gift Box
This time, I used origami paper that is red on one side and yellow on the other.
Make a crease

Let’s get started and make the folds.
First, fold it into a square, then fold it into a triangle.

Next, fold both sides toward the center line.

Next, fold the four corners toward the center.
This is commonly known as the “cushion fold.”

Open it up, then fold the bottom corner so that it aligns with the corner marked with a red circle at the top.
Similarly, crease the remaining three corners.

Did you make four folds?
Now, let’s flip the origami over.
Next, make a fold along the dotted line.

Please bear with me a little longer.
That completes the creasing.
Flip it over and fold along the dotted line.
yurariThere are already creases here, but fold it in the opposite direction.
Doing this will make it easier to assemble.
Assemble

Next, it’s finally time to assemble it.
Align the part that looks like a house—or, to some, a short pencil—so that the two halves fit together.

Once you’ve aligned them, look at the outside.
Align the two triangles facing each other.

Next, join the small triangles together.
This will reveal the corners of the box.

On top of the corner you just made, there is a house shape.
Fold this in half.
Then just repeat the same steps.

Even if you follow the same folding instructions, the last corner is always the hardest to fold.
I’m looking for the shape of the house, the outer triangle, and the small triangle that forms next.

Here, I’ve folded the house shape in half.
Next, bring the outer triangles together.
And now, the small triangle.

And that’s it!
How did it go? Did it work out?
Once you’re done, you can say, “I did it!”
Or maybe “All right!” would work too.
Let’s savor the moment.

The gift box is ready

This was folded from washi paper.
So both the front and back are the same color.
I decorated the part you pull to open it
by sticking masking tape there.

Here’s what it looks like when you open it.
It’s amazing that you can make this with just a single sheet of origami paper, isn’t it?
These were made using 7.5-centimeter and 15-centimeter sheets of origami paper.

On Pinterest, we show you how to fold it in a video.

In Conclusion

That was an introduction to a gift box
you can make from a single sheet of origami paper.
There’s something exciting about the anticipation when you open a box, isn’t there?
